At Acorn, we are always trying to find different ways that we can help our local community or give to those that are less fortunate.

As part of this year's corporate social responsibility programme we decided to ask our employees to donate to Slough Foodbank during the month of August.

Every day people go hungry for various reasons. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems.

The Slough Foodbank was established in 2010 and has a central warehouse where the goods are stored and very quickly released to four distribution centres according to need. Last year they received over 50 tonnes of food and essential items and saw an upsurge of more than 25% in clients, a total of 3890 for 2017 and 1,335 of that were children.

‘Our headquarters have been based in Slough for over ten years now so the community is at the heart of everything we do. It is brilliant to be able to help and contribute to the Slough Food Bank and to see the donations made by our employees appreciated.’
